Honey-Soy Salmon Recipe

Prep Time1 hour
Cook Time10 minutes
Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • 1 Lb of Salmon skin left on and cut into 4 pieces

Honey-soy marinade:

  • ¼ Cup of soy sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons of honey
  • Juice from 1 lemon should be roughly 1½ Tablespoons
  • 1 Tablespoon of olive oil
  • ½ Teaspoon of toasted sesame oil
  • 2 Cloves of garlic minced
  • 1 Tablespoon of ginger minced
  • ½ Teaspoon of crushed red pepper optional

Instructions

  • Marinate the salmon: Add all of the ingredients for the marinade into a large zip lock bag and agitate them so they are thoroughly combined. Add the salmon pieces to this bag and gently move them around so that they are coated in the marinade. Set this in your fridge for 1 to 4 hours. But make sure to take the salmon out of the fridge 30 minutes before grilling so it comes to room temperature.
  • Preheat your grill on medium.
  • Get the salmon ready for the grill: Take the salmon out of the marinade 10 minutes before grilling, making sure that any excess marinade drips off the salmon. Transfer the remaining marinade to a bowl as it will be used to based the salmon as it cooks.
  • Grill the salmon: Brush the grill grates with some oil so that the salmon won’t stick. Then place each piece of salmon on the grill skin side up. Let this cook undisturbed for 3 to 6 minutes depending on how well done you like your salmon. 3 to 4 minutes for rare/medium-rare, or 5 to 6 minutes for medium/well done. Then carefully use tongs to flip the salmon so that the skin side is down. Brush some of the reserved marinade over the flesh of the salmon. Then let them cook for another 3 to 6 minutes, again depending on how well done you like your salmon. Use tongs or a spatula to remove the cooked salmon from the grill.
  • Serve the honey-soy salmon immediately and enjoy!
