Tartar Sauce

Want to know one of the easiest ways to improve your home-cooked meals?   Always choose to make your own sauces over buying them at a store! Honestly, this is one of the most common things that I see home cooks fail to do that keeps their meals from achieving greatness.  Maybe it’s due to laziness, or maybe some people just don’t have a grasp over how easy it is to make sauces. Who knows, I’m not a mind reader. But what I do know is that it doesn’t matter if its salsa, balsamic vinaigrette, or a simple gravy; a good homemade sauce is often cheaper, and always taster than the store-bought crap.  That’s why today I’m going to be teaching you, fine folks, how to make one of the most popular sauces found around the world, tartar sauce. So if you’re ready then let’s get into the recipe.

Tips, Tricks & Suggestions

  • Fresh dill is definitely better than dry, however, my grocery store is often out of it so most of the time I use dried.  If you do have access to fresh dill and want to use it then upgrade the measurement to a tablespoon.
  • This sauce will keep in your fridge for a week.  Also, I highly recommend that you make it the night before as it will allow the flavors to meld together.
  • While I prefer to use dill pickles in my tartar sauce you can definitely substitute it with sweet pickles.  It’s really just a matter of your personal preference. Also, you can sub either of them out with relish if you’re in a pickle….  Pun not intentional.
