I don’t know how it is where you live, but we’re finally starting to feel the summer heat here in Colorado. And as always I tend to spend most of this time of the year whipping up frozen treats to help keep myself cool. But I’m not talking about ice cream folks, no, no, no. What I’m referring to is delectable sorbet. And out of all the flavors, one can make my all-time favorite has to be strawberry vodka sorbet!
I just love making sorbet over traditional ice cream. For starters it is a hell of a lot easier to make, requiring only a blender/food processor. That’s right, no ice cream machine needed! Simply blend up some frozen fruit, add some honey and alcohol, and boom you have perfect sorbet. The other reason I prefer sorbet is the simple fact that it’s healthier. I mean sure it has a slightly higher amount of sugar than ice cream, but it wins the battle because it is low calorie, and completely fat-free. Who doesn’t love that!
So if you’re ready then let’s get to making our strawberry vodka sorbet.
Tips, Tricks, & Suggestions
- While I am using vodka today you can easily swap it out with any other type of hard alcohol you want.
- When it comes to the strawberries you have two options. First, you can simply purchase and use a bag of frozen strawberries, which for obvious reasons is the easiest route. However, if you are concerned about the quality of those strawberries then you can easily purchase fresh strawberries and freeze them before using in this recipe. Either option works!
