Like most Americans, I don’t cook up lamb chops that often. But when the occasion does arise I normally like to prepare the flavorful cut in one of two ways. The first method is to marinate lamb chops in a simple blend of garlic, herbs, and olive oil. Which in my opinion is a great way for providing a subtle flavor to the lamb chops without over masking its natural taste of the lamb. However, when I want a lamb chop with a little bit more going on I turn to my second method. And that’s Moroccan spiced lamb chops.
Tips, Tricks & Suggestions
- The key to our Moroccan spiced lamb chops is the Moroccan spice blend called ras el hanout. It includes a number of spices like cinnamon, ginger, coriander, and cumin to name a few. Luckily you should be able to find ras el hanout in most grocery stores nowadays. However, if you can’t find it then you can easily make your own ras el hanout with our recipe for it.
- While I typically use this marinade for lamb chops it also works great with chicken. However, if you do this make sure to not marinate the chicken any longer than 30 minutes.
- Personally I have always grilled my Moroccan spiced lamb chops. That being said if it’s too cold outside, or you don’t own a grill then you can easily cook these lamb chops in a skillet.
- I like to serve this dish with a side of our saffron rice, and a fresh salad with our greek dressing.
