Marinated Beef Tenderloin

We’re having some guests over at the house this weekend which means we need to make a meal worthy of a party.  Sure we could make something basic like burgers, or grilled chicken breasts. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned about cooking for a group is that it’s best to make something low maintenance.  That’s why I decided to dust off the old recipe books and make my father’s tried and true recipe for marinated beef tenderloin.

It’s a fantastic recipe for a party.  You start by marinating the beef which only takes a minute of your time and is done the day before the party.  Then when it comes to cooking the beef tenderloin, all you have to do is sear it for a couple of minutes, then place it on indirect heat and let it cook undisturbed for 45 minutes to an hour.  All of this results in less time hovering over your grill and more time socializing with your guests.

So if you are looking for something easy to make for your next party then check out our recipe for marinated beef tenderloin below.

Tips, Tricks, & Suggestions

  • This marinade and cooking technique also works great with other types of beef roasts.  One of my personal favorites is tri-tip.
  • I like to serve this marinated beef tenderloin with parsley potatoes and baked asparagus.
  • While it isn’t necessary I do recommend that you truss the beef tenderloin as it will help it cook more evenly.  If you’ve never trussed a cut of meat before then check out this great instructional from savuer.com
