Banana cantaloupe smoothie is a simple yet refreshing drink that is perfect for cooling off on sweltering summer days.
In a recent post, I discussed 7 of my favorite ingredients to freeze. And if you’ve already read it then you’ll know one of those seven ingredients was fresh fruit. I bring this up because in the post I provided a few suggestions for how you could use your frozen fruit. Like baking them in pies, cooking them with your oatmeal, and even using them in smoothies. And while there are plenty of recipes for pies and oatmeal here on the blog. I realized I haven’t shared any recipes for smoothies!
So today we are going to remedy that with a simple recipe for a banana cantaloupe smoothie. Trust me you’re going to love this combination of fruit in a smoothie. It’s creamy and rich thanks to the banana and greek yogurt. While the cantaloupe provides a light and refreshing balance to the drink while also ensuring that it’s not too sweet.
Trips, Tricks & Suggestions
- A blank canvas: Once you have this recipe down you should try an experiment with additional flavors. For example, you can add in a few fresh mint leaves for a burst of freshness. You can substitute the orange/pineapple juice with any other type of tropical juice you prefer. Or even use cream of coconut instead of yogurt. So feel free to get creative!
- Vegan-friendly alternatives: Simply swap out the greek yogurt with a vegan alternative like oat yogurt, or the cream of coconut that was just suggested.
- Booze it up: You can also make an adult version of this smoothie to serve at parties. To do it simply swap out roughly half of the fruit juice with your favorite liqueur.

Banana Cantaloupe Smoothie Recipe
Total time: 5 minutes
Servings: 2
Ingredients
1 Cup of cantaloupe, cut into 1-inch sized chunks and frozen
½ Cup of banana, cut into slices and frozen
½ Cup of ice cubes
½ Cup of either orange or pineapple juice
⅓ Cup of plain greek yogurt
1 Teaspoon of your favorite sweetener (like sugar, honey, maple syrup, or agave nectar), plus more to taste
½ Teaspoon of vanilla extract (optional)
Pinch of salt
Instructions
- Blend the ingredients: Add the cantaloupe, banana, ice cubes, juice, greek yogurt, sweetener, vanilla extract (optional), and salt to a blender. Cover the blender and run the machine on medium to high speed until all of the ingredients are blended smooth. This should take roughly 3 minutes.
- Adjust the thickness of the smoothie (optional): At this point the smoothie is technically done, and if the consistency is how you like it then skip this step. But if you’d prefer it to be a bit thicker/thinner then you can easily adjust it depending on your preference. To make the smoothie thinner simply add in little more juice and blend everything for another 15 to 30 seconds. If you want to make the smoothie thicker then you can add more frozen fruit or ice and blend it all together until smooth.
- Adjust the sweetness of the smoothie (optional): Once the smoothie is the right consistency then you should taste the smoothie for sweetness. If it is sweet enough for you then don’t do anything. However, if you’d like it to be sweeter then simply add a little bit more sweetener and run the blender for a few seconds to incorporate it into the drink. Just make sure to add roughly a teaspoon at a time and taste as you go until it is how you like.
- Pour the banana cantaloupe smoothie into glasses and enjoy immediately!
