Greek salmon is an excellent dish for when you want something easy, delicious, and healthy. It consists of salmon portions basted in a combination of lemon juice, olive oil, garlic, and a few herbs. And baked in an oven until flakey, and flavorful.
Tips, Tricks & Suggestions
- Use other fish?: If you’re not a fan of salmon don’t worry. Because you can still easily make this dish with just about any other type of fish that you like. However, keep in mind that every fish cooks a bit differently. So you might need to adjust the cooking time depending on what you use. And if you want to be precise most fish are perfectly cooked when they reach an internal temperature of 145℉/62.8℃.
- Add vegetables: You can easily turn this recipe into a delicious sheet pan dinner by adding vegetables. Some of my favorites to include are onion, bell pepper, zucchini, and cauliflower. Just cut them into bite-sized pieces and distribute them around the salmon on the baking sheet before baking. Oh, and make sure to prepare double basing sauce to pour over the vegetables for an amazing burst of taste!
- Great as leftovers: One of my favorite ways to use leftover greek salmon is to cut or shred the salmon into bite-sized pieces. Then add and toss them to any salad that you enjoy! It’s such a winning combination and makes a tasty, healthy, and easy lunch.
- Using the basting liquid as a marinade?: You can also use the basting liquid as a marinated if you’re looking for a more intense flavor. However, be careful not to marinate it for too long as the lemon juice and salt can partially cook the salmon. My personal recommendation is no longer than 30 minutes.
- Grill instead of bake: This dish can be an excellent summer recipe as well. All you have to do is grill the salmon instead of bake it. To do this start by getting your grill nice and hot. Then instead of basting the salmon prior to cooking simply brush on a little bit of oil. Next, place these on your hot grill skin side up and let them cook for 4 to 6 minutes. And finally, flip them over, baste them with the sauce, and let them finish grilling for another 4 to 6 minutes.
- Serving Suggestions: I like to keep it simple and serve this greek salmon with some Rice Pilaf and a salad of mixed greens tossed in our Greek Vinaigrette.
