Prep the chili sauce: Get out a large pot and add the ground beef along with 1 cup of water to it. Then use a wooden spoon to mix these two ingredients until the beef has separated into little particles. This step is important because it will result in a fine almost velvety finish to the sauce. Finally, add all of the remaining chili sauce ingredients and mix well.
Cook the chili sauce: Place this pot over high heat and let it come to a boil. Then lower the heat so that the mixture comes to a simmer. Let the sauce simmer for at least 1 hour, making sure to stir the mixture every 5 to 10 minutes.
Finish the chili sauce: After an hour taste the chili sauce and add enough salt to your liking. Then you have to option to simmer the sauce for longer if you want it to be of thicker consistency.
Cook your hot dogs any way that you prefer.
Place the cooked hot dogs on buns, spoon some of the hot chili sauce on top, and add any other topping that you like. Enjoy!
