Apple Bread Recipe

Prep Time15 minutes
Cook Time1 hour
Servings: 1 loaf

Equipment

  • 9×5 inch loaf pan

Ingredients

For the apples:

  • 2 Cups of peeled and chopped roughly ½ inch chunks apples, should need 2 large apples
  • ½ Cup of brown sugar
  • ½ Teaspoon of ground cinnamon

For the batter:

  • Cups of all-purpose flour
  • ½ Teaspoon of baking soda
  • ¼ Teaspoon of baking powder
  • ¼ Teaspoon of salt
  • ¼ Teaspoon of ground cinnamon
  • ¼ Teaspoon of ground nutmeg
  • 2 Eggs at room temperature
  • ½ Cup of granulated sugar
  • ½ Cup of butter melted but not hot
  • 1 Teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • ½ Cup of chopped nuts like pecans or walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350℉/177℃.
  • Grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan with either some nonstick spray or butter and set it aside.
  • Prep the apples: Combine the peeled and chopped apples in a small bowl with ½ cup of brown sugar and ½ teaspoon of cinnamon. Set this aside and move on to the next step.
  • Make the batter: Get out a large mixing bowl and add the flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg to it. Use a whisk to combine these ingredients together and set them aside. Next, get out a separate mixing bowl and whisk together the 2 eggs and the ½ cup of granulated sugar. Then add the melted butter and vanilla extract and whisk until they are incorporated. Finally, add the wet ingredients to the bowl of dry ingredients and whisk everything together until it just forms a batter, you don’t want to overmix it.
  • Add the apples/sugar/cinnamon mixture we made before along with the chopped nuts to the batter. Use a wooden spoon or silicone spatula to gently fold these ingredients into the batter.
  • Pour the batter into your greased loaf pan.
  • Bake: Add the bread to your heated oven and let it bake for a total of 40 to 60 minutes. However, after about 20 to 30 minutes of baking check on the bread. If the top looks like it’s getting too browned up then loosely cover the top with aluminum foil. You will know that the bread is fully cooked when a toothpick inserted into the center of the bread comes out clean.
  • Take the baked apple bread out of the oven and let it rest in the loaf pan for 1 hour before transferring it to a cooling rack.
  • Slice up the apple bread and enjoy!
