About 5 minutes walk from where I live there exists a restaurant called Cuba Cuba Sandwicheria. As the name suggests it is a Cuban restaurant, and I will often find myself there at least once a week between the hours of 3 and 6 o’clock. Why you might ask? Well, I’d be lying if I said it was because of their sandwiches. The truth is they have a great happy hour deal on their mojitos. Of course, they serve up the regular plain mojito, but they also have a pretty extensive and creative list of fruit-based mojitos. Their options include combinations such as watermelon mojitos, blackberry mojitos, and even passion fruit mojitos. But my all-time favorite combination has to be the delicious mango mojito.
And one day I got to thinking, how hard could it be to make mango mojitos anyways?
Well, folks, it turns out it’s not that hard at all. In fact, it’s one of the easiest cocktails I think I’ve ever made. It all starts by taking some blended up mangos, or if you want to be super lazy some store-bought mango nectar, and mixing it with rum and club soda. Then all you have to do is muddle up a few ingredients in a glass, fill it up with ice, and pour the mango mojito mix in. That’s it!
Not only is it a great option for when you want to relax by yourself, but it’s also perfect for parties. All you have to do is simply double, triple, or quadruple the amounts we are using today and you have a great cocktail that can be whipped up in seconds. Sounds pretty good right? So you’re ready to learn how to make this great cocktail then let’s get into our lesson.
Tips, Tricks, & Suggestions
- In today’s recipe, we are going to be blending up fresh cubes of mango to make our own mango nectar. If you don’t know how to properly cut up a mango into cubes then check out our quick lesson here. I really think it allows us to have better control of the quality of the mangos used in this drink. However, if you are either short on time, or just feeling lazy you can always use the store-bought stuff. No one will judge you, I promise!
- When it comes to what rum to use in a mojito the general consensus is to use white rum. And as always try and use a rum that is of medium quality, save the good stuff for shots!
- You can easily make a virgin version of this by simply swapping out the rum with additional club soda.
- This is generally enough for two mojitos however for parties I like to triple the recipe
