Cranberry mimosas are a holiday season twist on a classic party cocktail.
Today we are going to make the perfect party cocktail for this upcoming holiday season, cranberry mimosas. That’s right folks, it’s a total game changer! The simple drink starts with the classic mimosa combination of sparkling wine and orange juice. But the simple addition of cranberry juice takes it to the next level. And gives this cocktail a subtle tart and bitter flavor that is more grown up.
Tips, Tricks & Suggestions
- Cranberry juice vs cranberry cocktail: When purchasing cranberry juice you will likely have a choice between plain old cranberry juice, and something called cranberry cocktail. And while they’re both similar in taste, cranberry cocktail often has additional sugar mixed in making them much sweeter. So which one should you choose for your mimosas? Well, personally I like unsweetened cranberry juice as it tends to have a more noticeable cranberry flavor. However, if you prefer a sweeter drink then feel free to go with the cranberry cocktail, what you end up with will still be delicious!
- Can you make a virgin mimosa? Yes of course! All you have to do is swap out the sparkling wine with some sparkling apple juice like Martinelli’s. Or you can even use something like club soda or a lemon/lime soda.
- Add a sprig of fresh rosemary to your glass to transform your cranberry mimosa into what’s known as a poinsettia. It is an excellent variation of this drink to make during the Christmas season.
- Rimming the glass? Some recipes for cranberry mimosa call for the glass to be rimmed with sugar. However, I personally don’t care for it which is why we won’t be doing it for today’s recipe. That being said if you like a sweeter drink and want to rim your glass with sugar then go right ahead. The decision all comes down to your own personal preference.
