Hello and welcome to the Home Cooks Classroom!
My name’s Patrick Jensen and I would like to thank you all for deciding to join me and our class. I am a firm believer that everyone has the ability to cook whatever they desire. No dish is out of reach when you have the determination to make it possible.
However, I will admit that sometimes it helps to have a little bit of encouragement and knowledge to get you the results you want. That is why I created Home Cooks Classroom, a simple blog that is dedicated to teaching anyone, no matter their experience, how to be a better cook.
My experience
I’ve been learning the ins and outs of the home kitchen ever since I was a little kid. My mother would always make sure that I was assisting her whenever she was cooking something. No matter how small the job was, whether it was stirring something in a pot, or roughly chopping up some vegetables, I learned through experience.
I took all of this knowledge with me to college, where having such a valuable skill set helped me gain a lot of friends. But more importantly, it was during this time that I indeed became passionate about cooking. I started cooking more complex dishes, trying out new types of cuisine, and experimenting with my own ideas.
In the end, I found that cooking is like a lot of things in life, it always seems complicated until you try it.
Today I continue my quest to improve my cooking, and I genuinely hope that you join me along the way.
What you will learn
Now of course we will be covering a number of different recipes here on the Home Cooks Classroom. From comfort food, to healthier options, great regional dishes, and even my own twist on timeless classics, I strive to not be a one trick pony in that regard.
However, I also wanted to make sure that I was providing you fine folks with the type of information that you couldn’t learn just through recipes alone. That Is why we have the cooking 101 section, which covers things like basic cooking terminology, the proper use of specific kitchen tools, and a litany of skilled techniques.
In the end, you should come away with all of the knowledge that you need to make any dish, any way you want.
